Product Development Engineer

Job Description

Job Summary

This is a hands on engineering role responsible for making design-related decisions throughout development process, ensuring efficient part maturation while protecting design intent, and providing product design support for pre-production and mass production. 

Essential Functions

Support pre-production cross functional team members with in-depth analysis and problem solving.

Conduct Cross Functional meetings to review drawings, quality control points, specifications, and other related material to product maturation

Use CAD data to create or update engineering drawings. (CATIA)

Provide customer design support through meetings, hand sketches, drawings, and data transfer (Will include travel to customer location and extended on-site visitation)

Update DFMEA, control plans, and Quality control sketches

Create, manipulate, and interpret FEA, Moldflow, and other engineering tools for product maturation

Investigate cost reduction activities and support kaizen initiatives

Provide budget planning for new projects and design changes

Maintain a positive influence by behaving in a manner that enhances the success of Nifco

Initiate and/or carry out engineering change requests

Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the company's discretion.


Job Requirements and Qualifications


Must have a Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent degree

Knowledge Requirements

Must be familiar with 2D, 3D, and solid modeling (CATIA experience is preferred)

Injection Molding knowledge and/or experience is preferred

Familiarity with FEA, Moldflow, and other simulation software is preferred

Root Cause Analysis (Why-Why) experience is preferred

Six sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and Process Capability experience is preferred

Understanding GD&T is preferred.


Require 0-5 years of design engineering experience

Special Information (Travel required, physical requirements, on-call schedules, etc):

Must possess excellent interpersonal / communications skills to interact
effectively with customers and other Nifco personnel

Must be able to travel on overnight trips

Must work effectively in a team environment

Must be a licensed driver with a safe driving record

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
